The bite was a little slow at my West Island on Saturday. I caught a couple of rock bass and one gill.. It seems that the redear are starting to bed, but it seemed as if the gills aren't quite there yet. I went to my f-i-l's buddy's place Saturday evening to use up the rest of my crickets. I was catching quite a few gills and noticed the big bass were going after a few as I was reeling them in, so I took one of the dinky gills and put it on one of the new Trokar hooks. They are really sharp and I was able to hook up with this nice bass... I was having a heck of a time holding my phone and trying to get a decent picture of the fish. The hook got into its a gill a little and that is why it was bleeding. I released it and it hung out at the top of the water for a while, but took off eventually.
