I picked up a new Mitchell Avocet II combo at Rural King Saturday afternoon and I took it out Saturday evening to see if I could catch a bass with it. Last week we left our minnow trap in the pond hoping we'd have a few small bluegills in there. I checked the trap and it only had one minnow in there, but that was all I needed... I was pretty happy with that being the first fish on the new rig. Also, the bluegills are back on their beds and in the spawning mode. I went through a box of beemoths Saturday evening and again yesterday evening. I had a couple of big bass on the line yesterday, but I guess the bluegill I was using as bait was a little too big as the bass spit it out as I was trying to reel it in. It is always a bummer to lose one, but there is something cool about watching a bass jump out of the water and spit your bait out at you. If I knew anything about using artificial lures I think I could slay the bass at this pond.
